FAQs
What role am I playing in coaching?
My personal rule of thumb is, that the best quality solution comes from you. This is where coaching can guide you through specific processes and help you to become aware of your thoughts. Coaches will sometimes ask your permission to give you feedback.
What’s the difference between coaching and counselling?
Coaching and counselling share a lot of similarities. However, in essence they differ as coaching focusses on the practical changes you want to make in your life and how you are going about these. Further, it helps you to identify what may be holding you back, from which we can develop tools to help you to get ‘unstuck’. Although we may occasionally talk about your life story, unlike in the counselling process, the focus in coaching is not on identifying how your difficulties developed.
Are sessions face to face, online or over the phone?
This depends on what you feel most comfortable with. You should be in a safe place where you can allow the energy to flow through you and become alert and aware of your thought processes. A typical session is an hour long with the option of a follow up call.
How will I know it’s the right thing for me to do?
We will begin with an initial 30-min call in which I explain the coaching process and you can get a sense about whether I am right for you. If all goes well, we then agree on a programme or a one-off session as a follow-up. All things considered, if you feel ready for change, are open to having a structure and taking responsibility, as well as being ready for a challenge; meaning, you are ready to do some work at home and want to be held accountable for this - then you are ready for the life coaching experience!
